ZENO (ZENO リメイク版) is a Japanese psychological horror RPG created by Umami Mazu. It originally released February 2021 as a remake of the game with the same title from 2015, with the English version (translated by Angel Lily-096) releasing June 2021. ZENO is scenario-focused, consisting mostly of adventuring and puzzle-solving.
Due to the content, both ZENO and ZENO Remake are intended for players at least 15 years old.
The gameplay features recurring depictions of cannibalism, blood, gun, suicide, chase scenes, jumpscares, murder, torture, glitchy screens, and small amounts of flashing lights. At the start of the playthrough, bloody scenes can be toggled off. General difficulty level can also be selected at the start via the "Tracker Setting" option, indicating the frequency of chase scenes throughout.
Overview
ZENO opens with two amnesiacs awakening in a locked room, forced into handcuffing themselves together to find a means of escape. Henceforth, the story revolves around the genius (Maeno Aki) and homicidal maniac (Tsugino Haru) navigating the strange facility in hopes of finding an exit. Each floor presents a series of logic-based mysteries and puzzles that must be completed for the story to progress. Miscellaneous information pertaining to the worldbuilding of ZENO can also be discovered in the form of reports, documents, and books that are scattered about.
